After learning the benefits of how self-care can benefit your body, mind, and soul, we are pretty sure that you can’t wait to start your own self-care practices. However, remember that each person has their own personal issues and matters to be taken care of. Each self-care routine should accommodate an individual’s needs and demands.
Thinking of ways to start your self-care routine is one thing but actually adopting it and taking it seriously is more important than planning itself. Here are ways on how to create a self-care routine that you will actually follow.
Five Steps For Creating a Self-Care Routine
List down anything that makes you feel centered.
As previously mentioned, a self-care routine is not a “one size, fits all” kind of plan. Every person has their own needs and demands that will determine their overall self-care routine.
Write down as many things that you can think of that bring you joy, whether it’s a color that makes you happy, an activity that boosts your energy, favorite music genre, certain smells, or essential oils.
Think of ways on how to incorporate these things into your life.
Now that you have the things you need to focus on, think of ways to include these things in your daily routine. It could be just in the background (such as decorating your house with your happy colors and smells) or it could also take up a more notable space in your daily routine (such as designating a fixed amount of time for a certain pleasurable activity).
Set your goals for each activity/behavior.
Once you have decided on the self-care practices to do, set up a goal for each of them on how often and when you would do it. Make sure that these goals are realistic and measurable. For example, if your self-care practice is to exercise more, start with a 30-minute workout then increase (or decrease) the duration until you find the most doable.
Evaluate after a week.
On the seventh day streak of your self-care routine, reflect on how you’re feeling and note any positive benefits. Use this as fuel to maintain the behavior throughout the rest of the month.
Adjust your approach as you go.
It’s totally normal if you experience any bumps along the way. Creating a self-care routine is a trial-and-error itself and as time goes by, our needs and demands change too. Things that make you happy during the first weeks of your self-care routine might become less enjoyable in other weeks, so it’s okay to change your self-care practices.
Self-Care Practice for People With Limited Mobility
Most people find walking with nature as one of the most refreshing ways to practice self-care. Breathing in fresh air while seeing breathtaking greeneries is simply a wonder of its own. However, for people with limited mobility, this can be a challenging task. Fortunately, there are assistive aids available that can support them when standing up and walking on their own. One of the best assistive devices available for people with limited mobility and the elderly is the rollator walker.
A rollator is a kind of walker that is made from a freestanding steel framework with “feet”. These feet are typically made of two wheels and two bases that keep in contact with the ground, thus, helping people with limited mobility to stand up and walk. This rollator is designed with portability and durability in mind. Aside from that, it packs several more features making it the best rollator available in the market.
The TAWA Ultra Folding Rollator Walker with Wide Seat Red is made from aircraft-grade aluminum to guarantee durability and remain corrosive-resistant even after years of continuous use. It has 8” anti-skid wheels which give its user ease when rolling through any terrain.
From the name, this rollator is extremely portable and travel-friendly as it has an easy-fold design to save up some space when not in use. Aside from its portability, since it is made from aluminum, it is lightweight as well. This walker features a deep frame with a range of height adjustments to accommodate every user.
Nowhere to sit? Don’t worry. This walker features a built-in wide seat padded with a comfortable cushion. The seat measures 17.7 x 9.8-inch which offers a spacious seat even after hours of sitting.
